Should U.S. Show Osama bin Laden’s Body?

There’s a lot of debate right now whether to show Osama bin Laden’s body. Is a photo/video needed to dispel any doubt/conspiracy theories, or would it be too gruesome? Would it only inflame extremists and invite more trouble or is it deserving of a mass murderer?

What do you think?  Vote in another one of my extremely unscientific and totally unofficial polls and after that, include your comments.  Thanks.

  1. I think it would be helpful to dispel any ideas that it was some conspiracy and that it wasn’t really him. If it would only ignite extremists then I would say, let’s take the officials at their word (not that it means anything half the time) and trust that he’s no longer here and able to hurt others.

  2. I don’t think it’s really all that necessary. Maybe release the photo(s) to other government agencies for verification. From what I’ve read, the images are pretty gory. However, the images that are burned in our minds aren’t of him, but of the national tragedy that occurred on our soil BECAUSE of him.
