‘Deals’ On Facebook
22 million found online deals last year
You’re probably familiar with sites like Groupon and Living Social, which offer online discounts that can be redeemed in the real world. Last year, 22 million Americans found a deal on one of these sites.
Facebook getting in the game
Groupon offers everything from the ordinary to the exotic. But now the online giant Facebook is trying to get into the game, testing the waters in Dallas, Austin, San Diego, San Francisco and Atlanta, connecting businesses there eager to get their discount deals discovered.
Groupon has 70 million members… Facebook 500 million. And their hope is once a deal is offered it’ll spread like wildfire among all those family and friends. Here’s how it works; you see a deal you like and you click and buy it right on Facebook. It’s a new twist connecting businesses and buyers and one that promises to save you a lot of money.
Facebook Deals isn’t offered in Tulsa. The closest city is Dallas. But Facebook says it hopes to expand this test to other cities in the future.
