A Big Night For Big Brothers Big Sisters
This is a big weekend for kids in Oklahoma. And I really mean BIG… as in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. BBBS has its “A Taste of Tulsa” black-tie fundraiser auction Saturday night at the downtown Convention Center.
I want to thank the nearly 1000 people who’ve committed spending their Saturday night at “Taste”. I’ve
emceed it for about 10 years now, and it truly is my favorite event during the year to put my name and face to. It’s a fun evening, with great food and music. (These are pictures from last year’s “Taste”) But it’s the cause that makes it all worthwhile. There are so many boys and girls from one-parent homes who need an adult role-model in their life. Your donations and volunteering makes it possible for BBBS to match the kids with adults. Thanks.
Art Rasher, a good friend of mine, is a good example of how mentoring can change lives. Art is the 2010 National Big Brother of the Year. Yeah, that’s right. National. He and his “little” will speak tomorrow night. He has quite a story. Thanks Art. And thanks to everyone who helps out BBBS.
