What’s the worst company in America? You may have your own idea, depending on your personal experiences, but readers of one consumer website made their choice this week. Gulf Oil Spill Brings Out Scam Artists

DSC_5211

My recent visit to the Gulf gave me a renewed appreciation for the beauty of that part of the country.  It’s also heartbreaking to see what the oil spill is, or will be doing to the environment and economy there.  The disaster has prompted many Americans to ask how they can help out.  Obviously not […]

Destin Beaches: Still Virtually Oil-Free (But It Looks Like Someone “Threw Up”!)

Destin beach green with algae

The Gulf looks angry today.  Or maybe sick.  Very few people are in the normally crystal clear, emerald green water.  Many are just standing at its edge, staring at it, afraid to step in.  The way I describe it is it looks like the Gulf  ”threw up” overnight.  One of the tourists walking by yells […]

Contracted BP Oil workers on Destin beach

The coast is clear, but the natives are restless.  That pretty well sums up Day 1 of our beach vacation in Destin, Florida. The oil is getting closer to these sugary white sandy beaches.  Many of the locals I talked to today say it’s now within 10 miles.  And they’re all worried… from the grocery […]

Going In For The “Top Kill”

BP is going in for the “Top Kill”.  Here’s a link to the live video feed 5000 feet below the surface of the Gulf.  It shows an estimation of how many gallons have leaked so far. UPDATE:  ”Top Kill” didn’t work!  On to Plan “?”
