At least two sporting goods chains in Oklahoma are hoping to capitalize on the OKC Thunder tonight. If the Thunder beat San Antonio in Game 6 for the NBA Western Conference Championship and head to the Finals, Academy and Dick’s will open their doors immediately after the game and sell championship Thunder gear.
Both chains are closely guarding the merchandise this evening. If the Thunder lose tonight, they’ll keep the stuff under wraps until Game 7 Friday night. Lose that one and the shirts might be used to wax and polish a herd of half-ton trucks in the Alamo City. Or the caps and jerseys could be shipped off to some Third World country to be worn with some old 1990/1991/1992/1993 Buffalo Bills Super Bowl gear. Only time will tell.
