Fortune magazine included 4 companies in Oklahoma on its annual list of the 100 best companies to work for. The companies are:
QuikTrip 66th on Fortune's "Best Places to Work" list
- Chesapeake Energy, ranked #18 (#32 last year).
- Devon Energy, #28 (#41 last year).
- American Fidelity Assurance, #47 (#39 last year).
- QuikTrip, #66 (#34 last year).
Chesapeake, Devon and American Fidelity Assurance are based in Oklahoma City. Quiktrip’s headquarters are in Tulsa.
Here’s what the magazine said that makes each of these companies great:
Chesapeake Energy. “A sleek new 63,000 square foot childcare center that’s big enough for 300 children is the largest such facility in the state — and the latest addition to the natural gas producer’s perk-filled headquarters.”
Devon Energy. “In March the company will move into a new 50-story tower, the tallest building in the state. When planning the new building, management incorporated employee requests, including a coffee shop and a dry cleaner.”
American Fidelity Assurance: “Nearly half this insurer’s workforce is over age 45, and 18% have been here more than 20 years. All employees get an annual holiday bonus or incentive package, plus a defined-benefit pension plan.”
QuikTrip. “The convenience-store chain staffs new stores with veteran employees who bring the company’s “superfriendly” culture with them.”
