Tomorrow (Friday) is Veterans Day. Originally it was called Armistice Day in commemoration of the end of World War I when the armistice was signed on “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” in 1919. This year there’ll be another eleven since it’s 2011.
Kristin Dickerson and I have the honor of co-hosting Tulsa’s 93rd Veterans Day Parade, which has become the fourth-largest veterans parade in the country. If you can’t make it downtown, tune in to Channel 8 at 11am.
World War II veterans will be among those honored. Unfortunately, they’re leaving us at an increasing rate, now reported to be about 1500 a day. My father turned 90 last week. He was a young doctor during WWII. Here’s a short video I put together of my dad in uniform:
Thank you dad! And thank you veterans!
