As you can see in that photo my wife is a little confused. She’s not the only one. So is the weather. She asked me today, “Do you feel like we’re being punk’d?” You know, having a prank played on us. I wouldn’t be surprised. After all, yesterday was the last day of winter and it was sunny and 73 degrees here. Today is the first day of spring and it’s in the 20′s and snowing. Snowing. Not just a dusting of snow. We could get up to a foot this first weekend of spring. My wife hates winter in Oklahoma. Icy, snowy, cold, barren, and brown are not her favorite words. It doesn’t help that I moved her here from Las Vegas. And it’s been a rough winter here. Who can forget the Christmas Eve blizzard?
Or the big snowstorm just a few weeks later.
We’re not the only ones who’ve suffered through a rough winter. Stu Ostro, senior meteorologist for the Weather Channel puts it this way: ”If I had to pick one word to describe this season, it’d be relentless… it’s been a wild one! There were a few brief respites, but in each case it wasn’t long before the mayhem returned.”
So my wife isn’t the only one wanting to do some spring cleaning and sweep winter under the rug. I just don’t want to be the one to remind her that spring in Oklahoma comes with a price. You may say goodbye to Old Man Winter, but hello to Mr. Twister.
Are we being punk’d? Absolutely!

Hi Mark,
Love this photograph taken of your wife! It speaks California right down to the Burberry boots.
Needless to say, she didn’t get much of a tan today.
Michelle cracks me UP!!! Good ol’ Oklahoma…we get EVERY jet stream that passes through the country…fun for us! Not really…I’m with Michelle…cold, icy, barren, & brown…NOT MY FAVORITE WORDS! Come on Summer!
Hi Alecia. I agree. But we have to endure Spring’s severe weather before we make it to Summer.
